The Drinks Were So Good… #1Liner Wednesday

 How good were they?

They were the bees’ knees! 🤦‍♀️

It was a perfect day, here in the middle of the ‘rainy season’. Friends invited us to drive to a tranquil Nature Resort on the Caldera River for the day. I can’t say enough good things about El Rio Encantado

Our host reserved the pool area for us and they provided service as needed at the poolside bar. We brought our own lunch and enjoyed while listening to the river.  There are cabinas for rent all around the property with beautiful trails between them and that also lead to the river.

I’m going to stop talking now and just share the images with you. I wish I could share the feeling of exhilaration we experienced being beside the river nestled in the mountains.

Oh, and in case you were concerned, I rescued my little bee friend using the straw and sent it off with a warning to beware what pool it chooses to cool its feet in. 😉

Yeah, I did spend time on the turtle mound

The hubby loves these

If I get to go back, I hope to walk that bridge. I took this shot from a lookout tower.

Making yummy drinks

This Treehouse is one of the rentals and has its own rancho for cooking outdoors. It is right on the river.

Fresh air and tranquility heals the body and soothes the soul.

We were told you can sometimes see the monkeys but they stayed out of view while we were there.

The lookout tower

Those are roots!

My muscles were peeved that I had so recently been inactive but we are on the same page now. 😉

With A Little Help #1LinerWednesday

Sometimes a single moment in time brings living beings together in the most unusual way. And magic comes from madness.

When I stepped out of the truck, leaving the door open for a moment to unload things and chat with my friend, I never imagined that a couple of playful hummingbirds would flit by and one would pull up just in time to avert disaster while the other slammed against the inside of the door and fell to the ground at my feet.

My heart fell beside it. My mind raced and I ran inside for a paper towel, afraid to pick my little friend up with my bare hands. Resting on the table near the feeder it breathed quietly while I gently smoothed its feathers and tentatively stroked its tiny head. Its buddies buzzed by and I whispered to it.

After a few moments it flew from the table and awkwardly into the trees. But it was okay. My heart sang.

Because I Must!

One of our favorite movies for years has been Blast From the Past. I don’t have enough room in this post to explain the million reasons why but this scene came to mind when I think of the times someone asks why a person does things they might not do themselves.

Sorry I couldn’t find a version without the Spanish dub. At one point in the film, Adam’s father is explaining baseball as a game to his son. When asked why the player runs to get to home plate, his father responds, “Because he must!” This is a phrase used by Christopher Walken’s character throughout the film when asked why things have to be done.

If you haven’t seen this wonderful film yet, well, you must!

And while we are talking films there is another that actually has a song in it which is now stuck in my head. While the message in the video is completely different than what I am expressing, it is nonetheless stuck. So, I am sharing links to the video as well as the movie clip so that you can have it ‘stuck’ as well! 🤭

We Are the Millers is not a movie for the folks who don’t care for irreverence or raunchy humor but it is definitely funny.

And the actual song which is really a good one by TLC…

What is the point of all this Hollywood involvement? My brain is addicted to Life ‘Connect the Dots’.You know, like all roads lead back to Kevin Bacon, or something like that.

Simply put, we DO go out in search of waterfalls, mountains, canyons, rivers, lakes, shooting stars, blood moons, birds, bugs, whales, dolphins, monkeys, sloths, cold beer, great burgers, vintage cars, lifetime friends and anything new and unexpected!

Why?  As Professor Weber so simply stated in the film, “Because we must!” You decide. Is it worth stepping out of our comfort zones for a little bit of magnificence now and then?

As for me, I think I’ll keep my running shoes handy. 😉❤️
