Infinitesimally Minuscule

Can you see me there...

Do you dare to even glance?

I am the sunrise that says,
“We are still here.”

I am that which crawls upon the ground.
Do you think about treading upon my back?

And that which takes wing,
fading into the sky

Can you feel its flutter as it passes by?
Must there always be a show
before you know
we are here?

We are but an infinitesimal pulse within the heartbeat of Existence.

Minuscule..

If the Universe should tread upon your back,
would you not feel the pain?

Nature mourns her losses

and quietly rejoices in her accomplishments
while humankind never has enough,
never does enough,
never is enough
to be content.

I am the busy bee that works to live

Often hanging on to my sanity by a thread while the world around me is hurtling towards destruction.

She watches it all silently, faithfully turning on her light at day’s end.
Do we appreciate the constant reliability of all that
contributes to the whole,
that creates the pulse,
the heartbeat
of life?

I am brilliant, but you must take the time to glimpse
the magnificence that is here and gone in the blink of Eternity’s eye.

We are eternal, not immortal.

Infinity has no timepiece,
knows nothing of beginning or end
and stops for no man’s desperate cry for salvation
from what he has wrought upon himself.

Do you know your place on the wheel,
can you sing with the spheres,
drift on the wind
and be at peace with
being
infinitesimally minuscule?

  1. Wow! "We are but an infinitesimal pulse within the heartbeat of Existence." Great line. And I LOVED your photographs. We are surrounded by a world we do not see because we do not look. And we are the poorer for it.

    1. Thanks Pam. You speak the truth. This must be why, in spite of my bank account balance, I feel wealthy beyond measure. 😊

  3. Lovely images. Are you still using the same Nikon D7000? Sarah and I love doing such macro shots which often we miss with our naked eye. Good poem to go with it.

    1. Thanks, and yes, most of the time; however many of my macro shots are done using my cell phone. I get so lost in the minuscule I sometimes miss the big things. 😉

    2. When I and Sarah are shooting macro shots there are times when people walk up to us thinking we are probably shooting some snakes. So they are like What is it? and we tell them its just a monitor lizard or a tiny wildflower and they walk away with disappointment. Sad, that people don't find tiny wildflowers exciting. I recently have pet a snail. I found him/her on my balcony. I call him/her Moody. I tried releasing him/her back in nature but he/she won't leave the comfort of the tray. Right now, he/she is sitting in a tray of mud drinking water and nibbling some green peas. He/She also has his/her own hut made from stones and coconut shell.

    3. How perfect! You have a tiny neighbor. I would be enthralled. Our tiny residents are the anole lizards. I know what you mean about minimal interest of passersby. I don’t even try to explain when I am trying to capture an image of a particularly magnificent dew or raindrop. Perhaps we plant tiny seeds of interest so that nexttime they will look for the small miracles around them. 😉
