In My Own Little Corner/ SoCS

Magic happens, dreams come true, and love abounds...

“Just as long as I stay in my own little corner...all alone in my own little chair.”

When I was quite small this was my favorite holiday film and I had to reenact it for days, using a hand me down white party dress and sing this song just before my Fairy Godmother showed up. How I longed for one of my own.

  1. Seeing Leslie Ann Warren as Cinderella brings back some good memories. Pretty sure I watched the replay on the Wonderful World of Disney sometime in the 70s.

    1. I lived for the yearly showing of this. She was so pretty and he was dreamy. And tell the wicked stepmother to be silent. Yep, a young girl’s dream, alright. Im glad it brought back some good memories. I was always in music throughout my school years and we studied Rogers and Hammerstein. Ahhh memories.

  2. I don't remember this "Cinderella," for some reason. I was 9 in 1965, so I think I should...

  3. To me, growing up with it, it was the ‘original’. Well, I was six in ‘65.

  4. It's a beautiful memory. I think we've all wished for a fairy godmother at times.

    1. Yes. And magic! I have quite a few creatures I’d like to assign nobler lives to. 😉

    1. Me too. It was a great stage musical. Rogers and Hammerstein’s score was wonderful. All prime actors. Walter Pigeon, Celeste Holme, the guy that went on to be on General Hospital. I can never remember his name. They seemed to embody what the story was about. The Prince-haughty but human, lonely, placating and kind hearted. Cinderella, guileless but wise, lonely, tenacious but hesitant, forgiving. Some versions work too hard at adding depth to an already emotionally layered story. The only one I enjoyed as much was Ever After with Drew Barrymore where they shared focus with Leonardo DaVinci. Happy Sunday, Pam.

  6. I have not watched this version of Cinderella in eons, but I loved it as a child. What little girl didn't want to wear those glass slippers and meet her prince?

    1. Yes! Sadly I tried a pair of glass (lucite) pumps as a young adult and I couldn’t even walk in them. Glamor eh?
