To hold the breath of Nature on one’s fingertips
and not understand its magnificence..

To view the intricate perfection of perpetual life
and not be awed into reverent appreciation..

To watch the impeccable choreography of
bloom and wing in silent wonder..

To move with exacting purpose through the
days of doubt and delight toward the finish line..

To accept the connectedness in  all of Existence
with pure Love and right intent is

Our world is in crisis.
She waits
with hope,
lashing out
in fear and pain.

CKP words and images 2020

This (late) JusJoJan and #SoCS post is brought to you by the prompt from Linda Hill. Sorry I am so late to the party this weekend. So much has been going on. I promise to do better. Thanks for reading!
The prompt was to base this post on the title of the last movie I watched which was, in fact, Tremors.

Love and Light,

  1. Wow. This is simply beautiful, Cheryl. There is no “late” when you deliver something this special.

I hope this week is less crazy.

  2. Beautiful shots! We are the caretakers of this planet, we should act like it.

  3. There is no 'like' button on this blog, is there? At any rate, consider it 'liked' and while I adored the pics, I loved your poem! I envy your talent!

  4. Very nice, and Tremors was a really good movie. :)

Silent Watching....

The elders watched from the precipice of destruction, stoic, unmoved in their constant vigil, feeling mildly perturbed by it all.

The ancient one shivered against the untimely chill that had crept insidiously over the season, forcing his tribe to take to the skies all too soon, seeking warmth- sustenance.

The Great Hunter finished the remains of its meal wondering when the last kill would be as the Keepers pushed further in, stripping away the vestiges of their life’s blood.

They bowed their heads in reverent shame for such disregard of their Mother’s world, their chirping drowned by the clamor of progress, the cacophony maddening.

She made them stewards of her Creation, they hold her Essence in their hands, delicate, brilliant, mighty, precious! How could they betray her trust for gold dust?

Can they not see the universe in a grain of sand, feel her breath in the rush of the wind, see her artistry painted across the  canvas of a blue sky in the  rainbow after a storm?

Her children r…

Memories and Opportunities

The past year was a whirlwind of change for me. I suppose some, more stationary,  people might say my life has been like a whirlwind. We have moved more than a dozen times in 30 years and to different cities, states and even out of country! Before my sons were grown, these moves affected their lives as well. We have become known as “the gypsies”.
I am a water sign, a Cancer, which influences me to be a nester by nature with an adventurous spirit. It has been tested many times. I have laughed, cried, screamed at the walls and picked myself up by the proverbial bootstraps to carry on. When I was younger I bemoaned the people I left behind and envied those friends who stayed in the same house, the same town, the same city and state so that they were one with their surroundings, family and friends. I longed to hang onto what I had, like a photo in album that you keep forever. Yet we all know that nothing in this tangible world lasts forever. So I keep the images in my heart and memory a…

Changing, rearranging, adapting, growing...metamorphosis. Sometimes it seems perfectly painless and beautiful, like watching an ugly caterpillar (I think they’re all pretty) spin a cocoon and lie dormant until such time as it emerges-transformed-into a glorious spotted butterfly.

Then there are those changes thrust upon us, life altering events that shatter our ideas about what is normal and perfect, right and wrong, beautiful and ugly. Injury, illness, loss and suffering can leave scars that may be nearly imperceptible to those around us but that loom in our own view as insurmountably ugly.
I feel most things come into my life for a reason and  try my best to understand these events, images and occurrences with an open mind. I feel the same uncertainty, sorrow and frustration as anyone else; but at some point, knowing that the universe is an intricate tapestry of Existence that is interdependent upon every thread that was woven into it from the beginning, I seek reason within the ma…
