In or Out? #Thursday Doors

When our beloved Sylvester got an idea there was no stopping him. Who knew what he was thinking when he got himself into this tight fix…

“But there should be a bird in here…somewhere..”

Better luck next time buddy. 😉

This post brought to you courtesy of Dan Antion of No Facilities and the regular #Thursday Doors prompt. Be sure to visit his blog to meet other great bloggers and see their submissions. Hope you’ll share your own doors too!

Invisible/Poetry

Alone in the darkness of the mind’s chaos-
drifting, sinking, struggling
against the weight of it

I weep, longing for words of comfort,
to share the awful truth
of the horror and pain

No one seeks the details of such a path,
this solitary walk into
the abyss of fear

To be on the other side is enough I am told
Just forget, move on to
the new unknown

I long to speak of it, the monster that hides
inside my soul in wait,
so thirsty, hungry

I think if I call its name, shining light
upon its twisted face
it might be appeased

Fluid, this dark cloak that envelops me,
tempting me to give up,
finding solace below

Yet I keep swimming, gasping for air
when I forget to breathe-
forget myself

Where is that self I knew so well mere
months ago, before
the world exploded?

People pat, people pray, people say
the magic words to
make it alright

It isn’t alright when my gut is full
of poisonous truth,
buried memories

No skeletons hiding in my closet,
for they lie buried-
ashes to ashes

Why did they all leave so soon,
without a goodbye,
leaving me to cry

this ocean of emotion and sorrow,
hoping that tomorrow
the forgetting comes.

Endless/#SoCS

When I saw Linda Hill’s prompt for today’s SoCS event I was almost giddy. 🤭 If you didn’t already know, it was to use the word collect any way you want!

Oh my God, where do I even start? My hubby and I both come from long lines of collectors and my sons have been collectors as well. As a child I collected everything from Barbie accessories to rocks and as an adult I had a pretty nice Barbie collection that I handed down to my granddaughters.

I have collected cookie jars, depression glass, seashells, beer caps, buttons, turtles and ocean related items as well as recipes and movies, books, well....you get the picture.

And, speaking of pictures, perhaps my greatest collection habit involves images. I love photography and have been called a photo hoarder by family members. Before digital and google cloud photo options, I captured, printed and put photos into albums. In fact, I have a trunk full of such albums. As my sons have grown and started families of their own, I have slowly reduced my cache so that they might have a bit of history to carry on this addictive legacy.

But it isn’t just about taking random photos for me, but rather about collecting moments. These are the moments that might be lost forever or at least filed in a memory bank and long forgotten. For me life is too precious not to savor, share and cherish, holding the beauty of it in your mind whenever you need to feel uplifted or reminded of all that you have done and been.  I can do this with photos.

Most of you know I love nature and have been able to collect pieces of it over the years through photography.

All these moments were my treasures and they are all unique.

Then there are the people I treasure, again best collected moments saved for posterity through photography. So, I say to any who would call me a photo hoarder, “Who cares? When the years pass and things fade, I can take out my memories and revisit them anew, making a lost memory a new experience.”

Yeah, I’m a collector alright.  Have had lots of things to call mine but most of them have been passed others whom I thought might enjoy them. But the images I capture with my electric eye are forever. They remind us that we left our heart prints in this universe and that can’t be sold, traded or changed.
