My Pad or Yours? #SoCS

My dear, how sad

you look today.

Put down your load,

come out to play!

The sun is high,

the breeze is soft,

tickling my wings,

carried aloft

I soar!

I see it now

and wonder how

you can resist

another tryst

with life.

The twinkle waits

deep in your eye,

the hint of smile

lingering by,

So why

do you hesitate?

Come closer, yes

and now you see

how grand a day

you’d spend with me

in Paradise.

Spread your wings high,

come with me-fly!

The moonbeams wait,

we can’t be late

this time!

Ocean waves crash

and mountains peak

thrills standing by

for those who seek

them out.

 We’ll sip the dew

from a rose petal,

the red of course,

oh why settle

for the pink?

Come along now,

please don’t tarry!

Today is the day

 Toad will marry

Miss Frog.

It will be grand,

the pond will sing,

the faeries dance,

the spiders swing

from silken strands.

And then, when spent

we languid lie

beneath the moon,

where fireflies

like

lanterns glow.

Now aren’t you glad

you came outside,

leaving shadows

instead to hide

in plain sight?

What fun to leave

our cares behind

 spinning, whirling

our minds unwind!

Shall we do this

every day?

We’ll make a date,

coordinate-

Oh say!

My name’s Whisper.

What’s yours?

OutDoors #ThursdayDoors

Yes, that does say OutDoors; but it does not mean out as in ‘In’ doors and ‘Out’ doors, although these doors can be used for going both in and out. My title is in reference to my very favorite place which is ‘outdoors’ and one might think there are no doors in Nature’s abode.

But...since the definition of a door is, by Wikipedia standards:

...a hinged or otherwise movable barrier that allows ingress into and egress from an enclosure....

A doors’s essential and primary purpose is to provide security by controlling access to the doorway (portal)

*(oooohhhh...have I got doorways coming up for you guys once my book is finished🀭)

Conventionally, it is a panel that fits into the portal of a building, room or vehicle. Doors are generally made of a material suited to the door’s task. Doors are commonly attached by hinges, but can move by other means, such as slides or counterbalancing.

Thank you, Wikipedia. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Now, for those of you who know me, I need not reiterate that I am neither conventional nor above broadening the parameters of the norm to share a bit of beauty. I have concluded, as well, that definitions are more like guidelines. πŸ˜‰

So, for those of you sticklers who live life to the letter of definition, try to relax and just go with the flow.

Without further ado, I give you my out of doors, doors..

Yes, it really is a door to a really big house

See, it’s a door, providing security, and we are grateful.

The really big house?
No, not mine, but this little place is. I spend a lot of time on that porch.

This is my door. It’s a good door. We go on a lot of hikes here in the mountains. That is where I found most of today’s doors. Some might argue they are gates. If that is you, you are free to exit the gallery..to the right please.

Many have long narrow roads that wind out of sight, not allowing for any photos of the actual portal doors.

But oh the views...

This one reminds me of a favorite book, The Secret Garden. I swear I just saw a faerie flit by.

Hinges, protection and security, in-out. Good enough to pass for a door in my book.

Okay maybe this one is more like a doorway but down the hill sits a home with actual doors.

See?

This? Only my favorite door of all, because it leads me to the beautiful outdoors where I find peace and sunshine

This door helped me bake chicken and dressing on ‘that’ holiday. πŸ˜‰

The door to some business I don’t recall, but I just thought the guy guarding it was too happy not to photograph!

Doors to a local church we pass when walking down the mountain towards town.

The door to get inside Pricesmart is up there...somewhere.  It only took about 20 min to reach it, masked up, maintaining 6 ft. No one uttered a word of complaint. A couple of months ago these folks were restricted to being out only on certain days of the week, sometimes alternating men days and women days; and elderly and those with disabilities got an extra two hours most days.

This is a wonderful little Inn with more birds than I could begin to name. The grounds were lush, well maintained and teeming with hummingbirds.

This was our room. Behind that door.

Yeah....outdoors

Doesn’t this place look like it should HAVE a door?
I meet new mighty tree friends every day.

Thanks for taking a walk with me and sharing my version of #ThursdayDoors. Thanks, Dan, for hosting this wonderful prompt. Do visit Dan’s blog to read other great posts and see more amazing doors!

Preservation Revelation

More meanderings from the minuscule mind of creative madness...

It occurs to me,
most suddenly,
when faced with life’s unraveling-
the end to which I am traveling,
how very much we brutalize our living
by the need of acquisition.

Things, like strings
and dragonfly wings
to
polished, promised
golden rings.

Photos snapped to catch a smile-
a tear!
freezing a moment because we fear
it may never happen again.
Letters and cards
etched with promises of love
stacked in a box
without locks
or keys.
Perhaps that is why they often slip away.

Mirrors that encourage, confirm and judge
while our intuition hides in waiting,
trembling with her truth
as the ego-satiating
mind lies.

Gold tarnishes
as the skin
begins to fold
and images fade,
the paper old
and worn.
Letters torn
in anger, sorrow
as tomorrow
taunts with
empty vows,
the nows
fade into later
and later...

How grand to be
possession free
and sitting still
with free will
to breathe.
In. Out.
In. Out.

To see with eyes of love,
connect with all that exists,
to move and not resist
the river’s flow.
Take nothing,
keep nothing,
be nothing.

I can feel the heartbeat of Existence
when I am silent.
It cares not that I am transient
in this dream
and knows that life is more than it would seem.
How grand to rise from deep within
her heart
and reaching for the light I
break the earth apart-
Breathe...
In. Out.
In. Out.

To laugh when the wind tickles my face,
and bask in the glow of sunlight.
Breathe...
In. Out.
In. Out.

To weep with the rain,
know joy without pain,
seeing every thing as it is-
each a piece of the magnificent image
in the thought of Creation.

The end, then,
not an end.
I do not know if I am old or faded,
my tender soul not weary or jaded.
Acceptance takes me into the abyss
to the arms of peaceful loving bliss.

Am I faded?
Wounded?
Young, old?
I have not been told!
I am loved,
Eternal,
lingering....
I have lived
and will go on!
