Solo
Hi Everyone,
I hope you have been having good days or better and that the fathers in your life were honored yesterday. We were fortunate to have most of our family around for the special day and enjoyed them all. My own father passed away late last Summer and it was very sad to think of him not physically being in our lives any longer. He was a very loving, attentive Dad who left us with a lot of fond memories.
On my walk this morning I found a door! Yes, and it seemed one I could not pass on to share. At first I thought to keep it until Thursday; but as I continued on my walk, the things I encountered inspired me to share it now. Like so many inspirations, ideas and thoughts I often ‘save’ for later, it stood a good chance of being filed away and forgotten. It struck me that the door was there as a message specifically for me and that the message was that it is okay for a moment to just be for me-about me-and not attached to a larger idea or project.

Endless/#SoCS
When I saw Linda Hill’s prompt for today’s SoCS event I was almost giddy. 🤠If you didn’t already know, it was to use the word collect any way you want!
Oh my God, where do I even start? My hubby and I both come from long lines of collectors and my sons have been collectors as well. As a child I collected everything from Barbie accessories to rocks and as an adult I had a pretty nice Barbie collection that I handed down to my granddaughters.
I have collected cookie jars, depression glass, seashells, beer caps, buttons, turtles and ocean related items as well as recipes and movies, books, well....you get the picture.
And, speaking of pictures, perhaps my greatest collection habit involves images. I love photography and have been called a photo hoarder by family members. Before digital and google cloud photo options, I captured, printed and put photos into albums. In fact, I have a trunk full of such albums. As my sons have grown and started families of their own, I have slowly reduced my cache so that they might have a bit of history to carry on this addictive legacy.
But it isn’t just about taking random photos for me, but rather about collecting moments. These are the moments that might be lost forever or at least filed in a memory bank and long forgotten. For me life is too precious not to savor, share and cherish, holding the beauty of it in your mind whenever you need to feel uplifted or reminded of all that you have done and been. I can do this with photos.
Most of you know I love nature and have been able to collect pieces of it over the years through photography.
